Getting started

What is Ahohou?

Ahohou is a property management system (PMS): one app for bookings, the front desk, guests, payments, housekeeping, the restaurant and bar, smart locks and the night audit. It is made by GoSmart Infra in Accra. In Twi, “Ahohou” means “the guests”.

Who is it for?

Hotels, guest houses and lodges, Airbnb hosts, short-let operators and apartment rentals, in Africa and beyond. Hotels and guest houses use the hotel plan. Short-lets and apartments use the per-unit plan.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Ahohou runs in your browser on a computer, tablet or phone. Staff can add it to their home screen so that it opens like an app. Housekeeping and restaurant staff sign in with their phone number and a 6-digit PIN.

How long does setup take?

About a week. We load your rooms, prices and taxes, connect your payment provider account (and your locks, if you have them), and train your team.

Can I try it first?

Yes. The live demo runs on sample hotels, with no sign-up. For a demo with your own rooms, request one here.

Payments and money

Which payment methods can guests use?

Mobile money and cards, through the payment provider you connect (Paystack, Interpay or Stripe). Guests pay on the secure page of your own provider. Staff can also send a mobile money prompt from the front desk, and can record cash and bank transfers.

Does Ahohou hold my money?

No. Guest payments go straight into your own provider account. Ahohou never sees a card number. It records each payment once, against the right bill, with the name of the person who took it.

Does it handle taxes and levies?

Yes. You set up each tax or levy that applies where you operate, as a percentage that is either added on top of your prices or already included in them. Each one is worked out on every bill and printed as its own line on the tax invoice and receipt. You set the rates once in Settings.

Can a company pay part of a bill?

Yes. You can split a bill between the guest and a company or agent, send a pro forma invoice before the stay, and keep a company bill open to invoice later.

Rooms, channels and guests

Does it work with Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia?

Yes, through calendar sync. Bookings from those sites come into Ahohou, and your dates close on every site. Calendars are checked every 15 minutes. Your own booking page takes direct bookings with no commission.

Can guests check in online?

Yes. Every booking has a private stay link. Guests can check in online, pay, see the bill, get the invoice, add extras and message you. Only the last four characters of an ID number are kept.

Which smart locks and in-room TVs work with Ahohou?

TTLock smart locks and key-card encoders work today: a door code is made for each stay and cancelled at check-out. We work with hardware companies to bring you the best smart experience, and igloohome and Nuki locks and welcome screens on Google TV, Chromecast and Samsung hospitality TVs are coming with our partners. See smart rooms.

Do you supply the hardware?

We work with hardware companies and can arrange locks and TVs for your rooms. Hardware is quoted separately from the Ahohou subscription. Ask us for a quote.

Where is my data kept, and how is it protected?

On Google Cloud in London. Each property sees only its own data, and every action is recorded in the staff activity log. Read more on our security page. Guests’ rights are explained in our guest privacy notice.

Does the website use cookies?

No. The Ahohou website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising tools, so there is no cookie banner. Our privacy policy explains the one setting your browser may keep.

Pricing

How much does it cost?

Hotels and guest houses pay GH₵85 per room per month, plus a one-off setup fee of GH₵990. Airbnb, short-lets and apartments pay GH₵149 per unit per month for 1 to 15 units. Groups and properties with 100+ rooms are priced by quote. See pricing.

Is there a setup fee?

Yes. Setup and training is a one-off GH₵990. You pay it once, on your first monthly or quarterly invoice. It is free when you pay yearly or for longer.

What counts as a unit?

Each room, apartment or other bookable space that you rent out.

Are taxes included in the price?

No. Prices exclude VAT, sales tax and any levies that apply in your country. These are added to your invoice where they apply.

Which currency do you bill in?

In Ghana we bill in Ghana cedis. Elsewhere we bill in US dollars. The pricing page also shows a guide in pounds, euros, naira, shillings, rand and CFA francs.
