Guest privacy notice
Version 2026-10. This notice is shown at booking and at online check-in for every property that uses this system. The property you are staying with is the data controller. Ahohou is the processor and acts only on the property’s instructions. For our website policy, see our privacy policy.
What is collected
Your name, contact details, country and arrival time; the type of your identity document and its last four digits; messages you send the property; purchases during your stay; and a record of your consent. Card details are entered on the payment provider’s secure page (such as Paystack or Stripe). The property keeps only a token and the last four digits.
Why
To run your booking and bill, keep guests safe, meet hotel registration and tax laws, and answer your messages. There is no marketing without your separate consent, and your data is never sold.
Who sees it
Property staff, according to their role; the payment provider; the SMS or WhatsApp provider, for messages you have asked for; and the smart-lock provider, for door codes. Data is stored in Google Cloud (europe-west2, London).
How long
Identity data is made anonymous after the property’s retention period, which is 2 years after your last stay unless the property sets a different period. Financial records are kept for as long as tax law requires, without your name attached.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or erase your information, and you can complain. Ask the property directly: its staff can export or erase your data from the system. You can also complain to your national data protection authority, such as the Data Protection Commission in Ghana or the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.
